The Pitched House
The site resides far from the city in an eco-village. The idea was to ensure maximum availability of light and ventilation without negotiating the privacy of inhabitants. Contrasting to the neighborhood flat roof houses, the client asked for a pitched roof. The roof plays the most fundamental role in the aesthetic look of the building. The design prioritizes thermal comfort by zoning private quarters to the South while opening the double-height social heart to soft natural light and ventilation. The material palette- exposed concrete, and intricate brick jali creates a rhythmic play of texture and shadow, culminating in a unique split-level meditation sanctuary that perches above the main floor for ultimate serenity.
